Sustainable Business certification

Dayton Regional Green 3 (DRG3) Certification Program

The Green Business Certification Program is a voluntary program designed to help businesses take basic green measures to reduce their ecological footprint, reduce their energy and resource use, and save money in the process.  Earning Green Business Certification indicates that you are part of an innovative leadership movement to green your business operations and help the region transition to a sustainable future.

The program emphasizes day to day operations and policies; making small changes to everyday routines and using effective strategies to save on commercial energy and resources could potentially save you thousands of dollars a year.

The application is based on a checklist of actions in six categories:

  • General Standards for All Businesses
  • Solid Waste Reduction & Recycling
  • Environmentally Preferable Purchasing
  • Energy Conservation
  • Water Conservation
  • Pollution Prevention

The Cost of Certification

  • $50 for SMALL businesses (less than 25 Full Time Employees)
  • $100 for LARGE businesses (25 or more FTEs)
  • First time application is FREE!

If your business has exemplary water stewardship, then your business might be eligible for Water Stewardship Blue Certification in addition to your Green Certification.  Refer to the check list for the Blue-Gold Certification additional requirements.
